Mini Scene Report: Los Angeles
by Luis

Hello! this is Luis from Los Angeles and I am writing the scene report for S.C.A.B.
So far L.A. has a good punk scene, but not enough people are active in D.I.Y stuff.

But I think its gotten a little bit better since the 80's when Bodycount, Iconoclast, Another destructive system where around. L.A. has a growing punk scene with more and more faces appearing at shows and protests. But one problem that faces the punk scene is the divdions between punk "labels" like crusties, chaos punks, street punks, etc. By this I mean some people get into fight over this, but I think that this problem exists all around the world and plus these fights are start by dumb people. Besides that small problem there isn't that many problems like racism because of L.A's racial mixer. Many good bands have existed around here in the early 90's.Bands like Media children, Empirismo, Holocaust, Raunch/Industroy and many others who no longer exist but have long lost recordings.

There are only three bands that I real want to mention one of them is KONTRAATTAQUE who play furious and heavy hardcore punk or "crust" if you want to call it. These guys rock at live shows! I recommend this band to people who like brutality with good political lyrics. So far they have a 8 song demo entitled "Detras de un sueno" and a 7"ep, but I think the demo kicks ass.

The second band ARMISTICE has been around since the early 90's. ARMISTICE play raw hardcore punk with blazing solos! This band real has cool lyrics and are really D.I.Y . They have been feature in a lot of comps the most recent is the Profane Existence benefit LP Aftermath". There release's so far is "100% paws in the air punk rock", "So much friendlier with peace" which are demos and along with a split EP with flux of disorder and a self title EP.

And the last band to mention is Resist and Exist who had a change in the line up. They sound different from there first two eps now. There sound was in the vein of Nausea and Anti-sect which was real cool before the change in line up. There lyrics are awesome with topics that are over looked these days in the punk scene. Their releases so far are the eps that I mention. There first ep they came out with was self-titled and the second ep was entitled "Dare to struggle dare to win".

I have written the addresses of the bands for contacts if any one is interested.
Well that's all, cheers to all the Yugoslavian punks and anyone reading this!
